Until about 3 months ago, I had never heard of the brand Tara Jarmon. Since my pleasant discovery of their store in West Hampstead, I have fallen in love with the brand for their feminine, retro chic & ultra French designs.
Tara Jarmon Cocktail Dress | Burberry Trench Coat | old Uterque Clutch | L.K.Bennet Heels | old J.Crew Ear Rings|
The dress in the photos is their navy flapper cocktail dress which I wore to Ben’s birthday dinner at Sake no Hana two weeks ago.
Ben actually helped me to pick this dress (he has a good eye for clothing) as its dark blue colour didn’t initially catch my eye. This is definitely one of those dresses that needs to be worn to bring out its beauty. The pleating on the short sleeves and skirt become so lively when they are in the natural flow of your body movements.
In terms of sizing, unfortunately the smallest size they run is European 36 which is a UK8, US 4 or AUS 8. I am normally a UK4, so UK8 runs big on me but thanks to its fluid/non-fitted shape, I only had to take up the length.
In terms of pricing, it is not cheap. For a dress, the average retail price is around £200 - £250 in the UK (it is slightly cheaper to buy in France). For such a price tag I would expect the clothing to be made from natural materials (e.g. silk, cotton etc) but this dress is actually made from polyester… Nevertheless, it still feels very comfortable against my skin, the linings are perfect and I absolutely love how elegant it makes me feel when wearing it! Worth the splurge!
If I had all the money in the world, I would buy everything in the store but most of us don’t have that kind of fortune, so if you’re taken by their designs, spend your money wisely; pick something that is classic OR very unique and most importantly, something you will love wearing. My motto is: the more you wear and enjoy it, the ‘less’ it costs you!
